If you want to kill lots of birds in one stone the Sundarbans is the right place for you to travel. This is the largest mangrove forest in the world covering up to 10000 square kilometers of area, out of which 6000 sq km is in Bangladesh in Khulna, Bagerhat, Shatkhira. And this forest was recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and also as Ramsar Site.
Gol Kanon Eco Resort is located at West Dhangmari, Mongla. Just half an hour from Mongla Port, the eco lodge is located just the bank of Posur River. So, you can have a tremendous view of Sundarban from the cottage. Gol Kanon Eco Resort is a community-based Eco Tourism initiative established by Relief International and marketed by Avijatrik Tourism. The vision of this project is to support local communities with sustainable alternative livelihood to reduce usage of natural resources.
An ecotourism site dedicated to a plant Golpata or Nypa Palm that lends itself to grace, adding to the bizarre beauty of the Sundarbans, A colorful jetty marks the beginning of the Gol Kanon site. This mangrove eco-site is surrounded by the Golpata and a huge pond with two cottages built on top of it and two more cottages on the other side, making this a unique site that offers 2 different accommodation experiences. A narrow brick pathway leads towards the Multipurpose shed, meant for performances and large gatherings, as you pass the animal sheds housing the local livestock. You can go for relaxing boat rides own the Dhangmari canal, watch the early morning birds from the pond cottages or cook with the host family to prepare your own exotic meal.

Your trip will be started from Saydabad bus terminal riding on Non A/C chair coach bus to Mongla Port. The bus will leave at 9:00 PM from Dhaka and should be reaching at Mongla by 5 AM.
From Mongla, a reserve sedan car will take you to the Mongla port. Its only half an hour journey.
7:00 AM: Boat journey to cross the river in 10 minutes.
7:20 AM: Local transportation to reach Gol Kanon ECO Cottage. (20 minutes). You’ll be received by the local communities with flowers & refreshing coconut water. Upon arrival at the cottage breakfast will be served with 4-5 local food items.
1:30 PM: Lunch will be served with delicious local fish dishes and other food items. You’ll get a chance to experience at least 7-8 local exotic food items.
3 PM: A silent boat trip will be arrange to roam around the canals. Also a small walk expedition on which the guides from local communities will be secure you.
6 PM: End of Silent boat trip and snacks will be served.
10 PM: Dinner will be served with 7-8 local food items. Night stay at ECO Cottage.
7 AM: Breakfast with local food items. (Egg, Ruti, Vegetable, Dal, Fruits).
8:00 AM: Boat trip to Karamjol and Harvariya will be started. A touring boat capacity of 15 people will be provided along with other precautionary equipment and a local guide. It’d take 40 min to reach Karamjol Wildlife Rescue Center and it’d take 3 hours to reach Harvariay Tourist Spot. On the each spot you’ll get 2 hours roam around and explore the deep portion of the Sundarbans.
Lunch will be served on the boat.
5 PM: End of boat ride & start journey to Khulna city by a reserve sedan car.
8 PM: Dinner will be served on the way at a local restaurant with Chui Jhal (A local traditional food item.
9 PM: Journey towards Dhaka by highway A/C chair coach bus from Khulna City.
